Props Practicum
Props Practicum focused on techniques in prop making such as sculpture, patterning, and furniture repair, but also on how props can support characterization and themes in a story, adding details to give a play more dimension. The first prop shown below is a larger than life apple puppet, with a pattern created from an ordinary apple and scaled up. The second is a mixed-media skull. The story we were assigned was that a character owned the head of their enemy and used it as a candy dish. As this class emphasized the build process, pictures of each piece in varying levels of completion are included.
